| Educational Goals |
| The Medical University of the Americas
was established to provide quality educational opportunities
for students from around the world. At MUA, education
is seen as more than a progression of courses in
a prescribed curriculum. Rather, the University
recognizes that the educational process incorporates
opportunities for intellectual achievement, demonstrated
behavioral changes, the acquisition of sound decision-making skills, and development of a sound ethical basis for the practice of medicine. When these intellectual and personal qualities
are brought together, the student matures into a professional
who will represent the University with distinction.
In keeping with the institutional goals to provide a
full
range of educational opportunities for all students,
the Department of Education for St. Christopher-Nevis
and
the Board of Directors approved programs leading to a Doctor
of Medicine (M.D.) degree,
a Bachelor
of Medical Science (B.S.) degree, and a
Pre-Medical curriculum. In particular, the medical curriculum incorporates
standards of academic and clinical instruction which
parallel those of LCME
accredited teaching programs in the United States. Enrollment
is open to all persons regardless of race, national
origin,
religion, sex, or age, who wish to devote the extensive
time and effort necessary to practice medicine. All classes are taught in English by experienced medical educators from the United States and abroad. |
