Applicants From Outside the U.S. and Canada

The MUA Admissions Committee actively seeks to enhance the international representation of the MUA student body and therefore takes into account the academic and scholastic differences that exist throughout the world.

Although an English translation of coursework may be required, students from all countries can be assured of equal consideration for admission to the medical school.

Each applicant, in general, should meet the educational requirements for admission to a medical school in their country of origin. Students who have attended institutions outside the US and Canada and whose transcripts are not in English must obtain an interpretation in US equivalency from a translation service. Students who have attended a college or university outside the US or Canada are required to obtain a course-by-course evaluation of their transcript through the World Education Services or from other accredited agencies that are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Since English is the language of instruction at the Medical University of the Americas, it is important that applicants be prepared academically to pursue the curriculum and be able to communicate effectively. Applicants whose principal language is not English may be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). More information on TOEFL can be found at the official TOEFL test site.
