By regularly submitting its M.D. program for evaluation and approval, Medical University of the Americas is recognized by key medical licensing and accreditation authorities:

Accreditation and Licensure

Medical University of the Americas’ Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Program is listed in both the World Health Organization (WHO) directory and the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) of the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).  MUA students are eligible to sit for United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) exams.  MUA graduates, having successfully passed the USMLE Step 1, Step 2CK and Step 2CS exams, are eligible for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®) certification, which is required to enter a residency in the United States.  Upon completion of residency, MUA graduates are then eligible to take the USMLE Step 3 exam.

Accreditation

Medical University of the Americas is accredited by the Department of Education of St. Christopher-Nevis and graduates are eligible for licensure within the federation.

Licensure & Approvals

Medical University of the Americas is one of a select group of international medical schools approved by the New York State Education Department to allow students to complete more than 12 weeks of clinical clerkships in New York State.
