Q.What is the average GPA of admitted students?
A.The average is 3.0 and somewhat stronger in the sciences.

Q.Are MCAT’s required?
A.MCAT’s are not required, however, they are strongly recommended.

Q.What is the deadline for applying?
A.Students are admitted on rolling admission and there are no deadlines. Seats in each semester (September, January, May) are competitive and early applicants have the advantage of securing a place in the semester of their choice.

Q.Can I apply if I have not completed all the requirements?
A.Students who lack a course or two may still apply. However, acceptance to the program may be provisional pending successful completion of the required pre-med courses. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed a degree.

Q.Are there real cadavers or models?
A.Students dissect real cadavers in Gross Anatomy.

Q.Do you accept credit cards for payment?
A.Credit cards are not accepted.

Q.Who would help me find an apartment on the Island?
A.The housing coordinator at MUA will assist you to find suitable housing.

Q.What type of Loans do you have?
A.MUA is approved for TERI loans. We are currently working on other financial arrangements. These private loans are credit based. If approved, the maximum amount borrowed should cover the cost of attending MUA for the duration of your education.

Q.Can I defer to another semester?
A.Deferments must be submitted in writing to the MUA Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee will consider deferments on a case by case basis. Deferments will be granted only if seats are still available in the semester requested.

Q.What is the most current pass rate for Step I and Step II for the USMLE?
A.The most current overall pass rate for Step I is 83% and Step II is 86%.

Q.Does MUA have 100% placement for core rotations in US Hospitals and/or abroad?
A.Yes, as long as the student has passed Step I of the USMLE.

Q.Do I have to stay in the dorm while attending MUA?
A.All new, unaccompanied students, are required to stay in the dorm for the first semester. Staying in the dorm helps new incoming students get acclimated to the school and island. In addition, students will have the chance to develop study groups and possible bond with other students to help share the cost of off-campus housing after the first semester.

Q.What is the cost of off-campus housing on the Island of Nevis?
A.On average, fully furnished housing prices (US Dollars) are as follows: 1 Bedroom $550-650, 2 Bedrooms $800-1100 Bedrooms $1200-1700.

Q.What are some of the amenities available to the students while living on the Island of Nevis?
A.Cell Phone Service, along with Satellite Television, and Internet access is available on Nevis. It is also highly suggested that all students bring a laptop to the Island as one of their essential items.
