Biography:

Dr Ritcha Saxena is a Hematopathologist with extensive experience in education, research and clinical work. Her educational background includes an MBBS, followed by residencies in both Dermatology and  Pathology. She received a Gold Medal for excellent performance during her Pathology residency. Post-residency, she completed advanced training in the field of Hematopathology. Her clinical and training experience spans more than two and a half decades after residency. During her extensive academic experience, she has received several awards and accolades, including the recent Osmosis Raise the Line Faculty Award for excellence in teaching. She was selected from among hundreds of nominees from prestigious medical schools, including Stanford, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Yale and others. She has also received extensive recognition as a presenter from various national and international pathological and educational societies and serves on the committees of many reputed global organizations.

Dr. Saxena’s fundamental research interest lies in the field of cutting-edge techniques in medical education, digital pathology, hematopathology and molecular pathology. Her research has encompassed many aspects of advanced learning philosophies ranging from team-based learning to mixed-methods approaches. Her most recent works have been published in journals such as Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, American Journal of Clinical Pathology (Oxford Academic) and Medical Sciences Educator (Springer), Transfusion Journal (Wiley), Acta Scientific Microbiology, Journal of General Practice, Electronic Journal of Biology, and others. She also publishes in several scientific magazines.

She also receives frequent invites and requests to do professional interviews and podcasts by different pathology, education and lifestyle associations. She was most recently interviewed in October 2020 by InstaPath, a renowned automated digital pathology platform, for her expert opinion along with other eminent pathologists from Mount Sinai Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, Northwell Health and others. She was also recently invited for a quote by BioInnovation, a pioneer in image cytometry and whole slide imaging, as an expert of microscopic image cytometry. She is currently involved in a Peoples of Pathology Podcast in an interview to talk about her take on issues plaguing medical students.

Dr. Saxena’s scholarly activity focuses on researching novel instructional techniques to keep education at par with modern developments to be able to give her best to the students. She continually presents her work in international medical and educational conferences, such as College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, American Society of Hematology, and American Association of Blood Banking, which are eminently recognized as pacesetters in global scientific circles. For these endeavours, she has received various awards and is recognized by fellow medical academicians worldwide.
