The Medical University of the Americas offers eligible students who hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree the opportunity to apply for transfer admission to the Medical Doctor (MD) Degree Program with advanced standing. Our carefully designed curriculum aims to prepare graduates for professional practice in both the U.S. and Canada. Students undergo a comprehensive medical education featuring early hands-on clinical experiences prior to engaging in U.S. clinical rotations and residency.

*98% Four Year Residency Placement Rate is the percent of students attaining a residency position out of all graduates or expected graduates in 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 who were active applicants in the NRMP match or attained a residency outside the NRMP match.

Scholarships – International Grant
Take your next step toward your MD with our international scholarship for eligible applicants.
Eligible applicants who are citizens and permanent residents of a country outside of the United States or Canada will receive an International Grant of $2,500 per semester.
Academic Requirements
- Students must have completed their MBBS from an accredited medical school within 5 years of application, unless they have been licenses and practicing medicine since their graduation.
- English is the language of instruction at the Medical University of the Americas. If your first language is not English, you must submit proof of English proficiency.
Application Process

- Transcripts: Submit official transcript(s) from each college/university or professional school you attended. Student-issued copies may suffice, pending official transcripts.
- Personal Statement: Submit a personal statement (limited to 500 words) detailing your motivation for pursuing a medical career, noteworthy accomplishments, personal interests, and any pertinent information for the Admissions Committee’s assessment.
- Letters of Recommendation: Provide two letters of recommendation: one from a college/university professor and another from either an employer or a supervising physician.
- Photos: Submit two passport-size (2″ x 2″) color photographs.
- MCAT: Applicants who are not U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents are not required to submit the MCAT.
- TOEFL: Applicants whose principle language is not English may be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or comparable examination.
