GUS MEDTalks Series: Bare Bones of Orthopaedic Surgery is the latest installment of our monthly webinar series, featuring John Trask, MD, a fellowship-trained, Canadian board-certified and American board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon and Medical University of the Americas (MUA) alum (Class of 2019).
In this session, Dr. Trask will share insights into orthopaedic surgery, drawing on his experience in hip and knee reconstruction, joint replacement and extremity trauma. He will discuss surgical approaches and techniques used in modern orthopaedic practice, offering a closer look at the complexities of treating musculoskeletal injuries and joint conditions.
Dr. Trask will also reflect on his professional journey, from medical school at MUA, where his clinical training spanned the United States and Canada, to orthopaedic residency at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the University of Ottawa. His experience across different healthcare systems and high-volume clinical settings offers a valuable perspective on pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery.
The session will conclude with a live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to ask Dr. Trask about his career path, surgical practice and the evolving field of orthopaedics.
