GUS Medical’s Canadian Clinical Expansion

GUS Medical extends clinical opportunities in Canada, empowering medical students with hands-on training in various specialties.

September 25, 2023, Saint Kitts and Nevis – GUS Medical, a network of top medical schools in the Caribbean, is proud to announce the addition of ten clinic electives across Canada. Through these strategic partnerships, fourth-year students from the Medical University of the Americas will now have access to enhancement of clinical training opportunities at:

  • Bayshore Neurology Center 
  • Booth Neurology Center
  • Medical Centre for Integrated Health Family and Women’s Medicine 
  • Carrot Health Centre
  • Pembroke Regional Hospital
  • OliveMD Medical Centre 
  • Bramalea Medical Centre 
  • Strandherd Crossing Medical Centre Nepean 
  • CBI Health Nepean 
  • Vaughan Sleep Disorder Centre 

These new elective rotations will enable students to work alongside experienced doctors and healthcare practitioners who will play a vital role in shaping their education. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a diverse range of electives, gaining exposure to various medical specialties such as Neurology, Family Medicine and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Eye Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics/Addictions Medicine, Sleep and Respiratory Disorders, and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Tom Nguyen, Medical Director of Booth Neurology Center, shared, “It is a privilege to be involved in this program that allows students to gain practical experience and knowledge in a real-world setting. We look forward to sharing our expertise and collaborating with these talented individuals, helping them build a solid foundation for their medical careers.”

GUS Medical has cultivated long-standing partnerships with numerous hospitals and clinical centers in the United States and Canada. The inclusion of these additional clinical elective sites significantly expands the institution’s clinical network in Canada, further enhancing the educational experience for its students.
