American University of Ras Al Khaimah Partnership Agreement

New accelerated medical education pathway benefits future doctors in the United Arab Emirates.

Medical University of the Americas (MUA) knows the world needs more knowledgeable and skilled physicians, and strives to meet that great need by providing accessible pathways into our 4-year MD program. To that end, MUA has recently established a new partnership with the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), which will enhance opportunities for students in the United Arab Emirates to earn their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees.

The pathway unfolds in two stages. First, students in the AURAK Biotechnology Program (BSc) who successfully earn 93 of the required 128 program credits (and meet relevant partnership requirements) become eligible to immediately join the MUA MD program and receive associated partnerships benefits. These benefits include a $20,000 USD pathway award, a guaranteed application interview, and eligibility for up to $27,500 USD in additional grants and scholarships. Secondly, once successful pathway participants complete the first two semesters of the MUA MD program, they will be awarded the remaining 35 AURAK credits and will earn their BSc in Biotechnology degrees.

Importantly, students who join Medical University of the Americas via this new pathway will experience significant undergraduate tuition, housing and living cost savings. They will also start their careers as medical doctors sooner, which engenders long-term earnings and advancement benefits.

Professor Bassam Alameddine, President of American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), commented: “Our strategic partnership with Medical University of the Americas reflects AURAK’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, global engagement and expanding the horizon for our students. By establishing an accelerated pathway from our Biotechnology (BSc) program to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, we are creating a transformative opportunity for our students to turn their passion for science into impactful careers in healthcare with meaningful international exposure. This collaboration further strengthens AURAK’s international network and emphasizes our strategic priority to establish meaningful partnerships with distinguished institutions that share our vision of shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders.”

Diana Mockute, Chief Partnership Officer, GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools shared: “We are proud to partner with the American University of Ras Al Khaimah to expand access to comprehensive medical education through clearly defined, globally connected pathways. This agreement reflects our commitment to supporting student mobility, accelerating academic progression and preparing the next generation of practicing physicians. By creating a seamless transition into the 4-year MD programs at SUSOM and MUA, we are strengthening both student outcomes and the global healthcare workforce.”

Founded in 1998, MUA has helped 1,800+ students achieve their MD degrees. We consistently provide future physicians with the comprehensive medical education, hands-on training, accessible costs and individualized support they need to achieve their dreams of a career in medicine. The MUA MD program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). Our alumni have gone on to practice in the U.S., Canada and internationally!

Notably, this agreement has been entered into by the American University of Ras Al Khaimah and two GUS Medical Schools – Saba University School of Medicine and Medical University of the Americas.
