Galaxy UniPrep Centre Partnership Agreement

Medical education partnership supports future physicians in Nigeria.

Medical University of the Americas (MUA) and Galaxy UniPrep Centre (Galaxy), a sixth form college in Abuja, Nigeria, are pleased to highlight the details of a new educational collaboration. Beneficially for aspiring medical doctors, this pathway will provide eligible Galaxy graduates with direct entry into either MUA’s 5-Year BSc/MD Program or 6-Year BSc/MD Program, which both grant a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Science degree and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree upon successful completion of the respective program.

As part of this partnership, eligible Galaxy graduates who have successfully completed at least three A-Level courses with a B average and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4-point scale (75%) (or equivalent), will receive direct entry* into MUA’s 5-Year BSc/MD Program (one year of pre-med studies and four years in the MD program). Eligible Galaxy graduates who have successfully gained a secondary school diploma with a strong performance in science courses and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4-point scale (75%) (or equivalent), will receive direct entry* into MUA’s 6-Year BSc/MD Program (two years of pre-med studies and four years in the MD program).

On both pathways, successful participants will achieve their BSc and MD degrees much sooner than the traditional four years of undergraduate studies plus four years of medical school pathway, saving them considerable time and money on their journeys to becoming practicing physicians. Galaxy graduates will also benefit from a guaranteed admissions interview, eligibility for up to $27,500 USD in financial support, and access to cost-effective tuition rates that make our programs accessible for students from around the world.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership with Galaxy UniPrep Centre in Nigeria, an esteemed institution that provides pathways for students to achieve their dreams of becoming doctors,” said Dr. Dona Rimanishta, Partnerships Coordinator for MUA. “It is a privilege to collaborate with an institution that shares our commitment to shaping the future of aspiring medical professionals. Together, we will provide the resources, guidance and opportunities necessary for students to become practicing medical doctors.”

MUA students experience a comprehensive medical education that features early hands-on training, individualized support from dedicated faculty, clinical rotations in the U.S. (core and electives) and Canada (electives only), and extensive student services. Of particular benefit for former Galaxy students, pre-med participants learn from faculty members who also teach in the MD program, which provides them with crucial insights into what it takes to succeed throughout medical school. MUA MD program graduates go on to achieve North American residency placements at high rates and practice in the U.S., Canada and internationally.

*To receive direct entry, Galaxy UniPrep Centre graduates must submit an application, share relevant academic transcripts, satisfactorily complete an interview with the MUA admissions team, provide two letters of recommendation and write a personal statement (500 words max.).
