UPES Partnership Agreement

Medical education pathway establishes unique opportunity for aspiring medical doctors in India.

Medical University of the Americas (MUA) and UPES, a university in Dehradun, India, are pleased to highlight their new partnership, which benefits students who plan to pursue an international medical school education. This pathway will provide UPES graduates who have successfully achieved the Pre-Medical Science Certificate* with direct entry** into MUA’s 4-year MD program. Excitingly, eligible participants will also receive extensive financial support via partnership scholarships!

MUA knows the world needs more practicing physicians, which is why we strive to make our comprehensive medical education and hands-on training more financially accessible for all. As part of this commitment, successful UPES Pre-Medical Science Certificate program graduates are now eligible for the scholarships listed below. When combined with our cost-effective tuition and fee rates, aspiring medical doctors from India can now achieve their education goals much more readily.

  • General scholarship: Eligible pathway participants will receive a $40,000 USD scholarship, distributed evenly over the 10 semesters of the MUA MD program.
  • Inaugural cohort incentive: Eligible UPES graduates who enroll in the inaugural intake, in September 2025, will receive an additional $10,000 USD scholarship, also distributed evenly over the 10 semesters of the MD program.

“The collaboration with MUA is an exciting step in our mission to nurture skilled and globally competent medical professionals,” shared Dr. Padma Venkat, Dean, School of Health Sciences and Technology (SOHST), UPES. “This program will empower students with an exceptional learning experience that combines strong academic foundations with practical clinical exposure across multiple regions.”

“Together with UPES, we have carefully designed a pre-medical program that offers students a clear, structured pathway to medical school,” said Dr. Dona Rimanishta, Partnerships Coordinator for MUA. “Through this collaboration, students can complete a one-year Pre-Medical Science Certificate at UPES, which will serve as foundational preparation for MUA’s 4-Year MD program. We are proud to have this partnership in place and look forward to welcoming UPES students to MUA, where they will take the next step toward becoming future medical doctors.”

Aspiring Doctors of Medicine benefit greatly from MUA’s commitment to hands-on learning, dedicated faculty, extensive student services, and clinical rotations in the U.S. (core and electives) and Canada (select electives). We remain committed to helping MD program participants achieve their academic and career goals by delivering an extensive education enriched by individualized support. We look forward to welcoming UPES students to Nevis for Basic Science and witnessing everything they will achieve in medicine!

*Successful completion means achieving a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the Pre-Medical Science Certificate program and successfully completing all courses in the program with no failed subjects.
